Privacy & Boundaries
This page explains what GutFlow stores, what model downloads do, and what GutFlow Assistant can and cannot replace.
Summary
GutFlow is a local-first gut health journal. It is designed to help you organize daily records and observe patterns, not to create a cloud medical record or provide medical diagnosis.
What we store
To make your timeline, insights, and conversations more coherent, GutFlow stores these items on your device:
- Bowel records, such as time, type, urgency, notes, and options you choose.
- Meal records, such as foods, timing, notes, and clues you enter.
- Mood records, such as mood, stress, sleep, and other context you choose to log.
- Generated insights and recent chat history, so the app can maintain context inside the app.
These records are used to show your timeline, generate local insights, and make GutFlow Assistant more relevant to your own records.
Model downloads
When you choose to prepare GutFlow Assistant, the app downloads the required model files to your device. These files power local assistant and insight features.
- Model files are downloaded from GutFlow’s model host, such as models.gutflow.cc.
- Downloading model files does not automatically upload your health records, insights, or chat content.
- The app validates downloaded files with file size and SHA-256 checks.
- If a download is interrupted, the app tries to resume; if verification fails, you may need to prepare the model again.
AI boundaries
GutFlow Assistant is useful for organizing clues, reviewing records, and suggesting observation angles. It should not act as a clinician.
- It does not determine whether you have a disease.
- It does not provide diagnosis, treatment plans, medication instructions, or emergency advice.
- It does not replace doctors, dietitians, lab tests, imaging, or in-person medical evaluation.
- It is not appropriate as the main basis for urgent, sudden, or worsening symptoms.
When to seek care directly
If any of the following happen, contact a clinician or local emergency services instead of waiting for app analysis:
- Blood in stool, black stool, or clearly unusual stool color.
- Persistent or severe abdominal pain, fever, or dehydration.
- Symptoms that suddenly worsen, or noticeable weight loss over a short period.
- Anything that makes you feel “this is not normal for me.”
